UFC 100 Akiyama vs Belcher

After a few technical difficulties we're up and running for UFC 100.

First round of the opening bout is over with middleweights Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Alan Belcher.

Nice back and forth action in that round and the second round looks to be more of the same early on.

Akiyama has side control on the ground, Belcher better show off that Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Good Ground N Pound from the UFC newcomer, Akiyama.
Belcher needs to get this back to a stand up fight or he's not gonna last much longer.

Belcher gets it back up at the 2 minute mark and scores with leg kicks.

Plenty of action at ICC: Fight For Life

Cagesm.jpg

The Iron Cage Clash card "Fight For Life" had 18 fights on the card, plenty of back-and-forth action and no decisions.

While the nature of blogging doesn't allow me to go into too great amount of detail on the show, let me just say that it was one of the most action packed night of fights I've seen in a long time.

Now here's "Q's Top 5 Memorable Moments from Fight Night."

1. Daniel Trusty recovering from a vicious straight right that dropped him to sink in a fight-winning guillotine choke.

2. Lee Haskett's knockout win in a heavyweight clash with Steve Franklin.

Things to look forward to

Figured I throw out a few big fights that all fans should want to check out as the temps get higher and higher this summer.

First up:
UFC 99 this Saturday.
Main Event: Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva. Expect fireworks in this one.
Mirko "Cro Cop" is also back in the UFC on this one, after a lackluster 3-fight performance in his first go around (1-2 record) he's looking to rebound. And then there's a grudge match between Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis. Don't get too comfy. I got a feeling that one could be worth standing up through the whole thing.

I'll skip UFC 100 for a later time.

Kimbo Slice to UFC, sort of

Cagesm.jpg

Kimbo Slice was last seen getting knocked out on national television by a journeyman replacement fighter named Seth Petruzelli last October.

The next time we see him will once again be on national television as the Youtube legend makes his debut for the Ultimate Fighting Championship on the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV.

Update on the road to regulation in Indiana

Cagesm.jpg

Just got word from some fight-friends via a social network site that it looks like a safe bet that the month of July will be an MMA free month in the Hoosier State.

The laws are in place now it's time for the newly-created Indiana Athletic Commission to iron out the rules for the sport in Indiana. To that end be prepared for a 30-day moratorium on Mixed Martial Arts in Indiana.

It's been reported that the state legislature doesn't want to worry about anything other than the budget. What that means for the rules and regulations being finalized is anyone's guess.

It's takes the idea of The Real World and gives viewers the fights they wish would happen.

Dana White speaks and a whole lot of people listened

Cagesm.jpg

Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, will never be accused of being politically correct.

In fact, he's a guy that could make sensitivity trainers curl up in the fetal position, cry and suck their thumbs with how politically incorrect he can be.

But he went way over the line when criticizing a story on Sherdog.com's by Loretta Hunt.

Hunt penned an article talking about managers and agents being restricted in their backstage access at UFC events.

April Fools...April Fights Days

Cagesm.jpg

Wednesday is April 1 or as it's commonly known as "April Fools Day."

It's also the season premiere of season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV.

But before the latest bunch of UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) hopefuls get camera time for taking the premise of The Real World with 10 times more booze and testosterone, we'll have Ultimate Fight Night Live to give us some action in the cage.

If you've not seen the show it's basically gives us what we all wish would happen on every other reality show.
