There are some sweet deals among all this doom and gloom

Believe it or not there is some positive news scattered in with the doom and gloom. The AP just reported that new home sales rose by 2.7% according to the most recent Commerce Department report. And the National Association of Realtor's issued a report stating existing home sales were also up over 5% in October. The down side in both of these reports is that neither of these figures came without a price given the overall drop in home prices. But this is still far better than all of the earlier housing reports reported on earlier.

There’s also the unpredicted drop in crud oil prices which are starting to be reflected at the pump. States with the lowest gasoline prices were, Oklahoma $2.165, Iowa $2.212, Kansas $2.276, Arkansas $2.287, and Minnesota at $2.291 for unleaded regular. A little closer to home, reports from Noblesville, Indiana indicated that the majority of stations were pumping gasoline below $2.50 per gallon. And in Anderson, Indiana all reporting gasoline stations were also below $2.50 a gallon. This is without a doubt something to smile about given this summers staggering price at the pump.

If you in need of a car you’ll probably not find a better time to wheel and deal. As you’ve probably heard all the latest reports from car makers on sales have been anything but good news for them. What this means is that you might be able to find some real deals on that new or that pre-owned car. The best approach here is to get yourself pre-qualified at the financial institution you normally do business with whether that be a bank or your local credit union. Find out what you can afford and then go looking. Never, ever let the dealer do the money shopping for you. This is one area where you can find yourself behind the 8 ball off the top. And you don’t necessarily need to spend the entire bank roll on a car. Look for what you need and hold the line there. When you find the car of your needs make an offer. If the dealer refuses walk. Chances are they won’t let you walk far. You just might find yourself riding in one sweet deal tomorrow.

If you’ve got some extra bucks laying around there are some very good deals on travel right now. If you have a yearning to travel and the time by all means get out and go.

Happy shopping
