One year laterTo most the date September 7 doesn't mean much. But it was one year ago today that the mixed martial arts world lost one of its best characters and people in Evan Tanner. Tanner passed away due to exposure in the deserts of California. He was an adventurer in the classic sense. There's a line in the Jimmy Buffet song "A Pirate looks at 40" that goes: "Yes I am a Pirate That line epitomized Evan Tanner. Before his death, the former UFC middleweight champion was speaking of taking a camping trip out to the deepest reaches of the desert he stated in a blog that "any failure of his equipment could cost me my life." And sadly it did. Tanner looked at fighting as just something else he did in his life along with a myriad of other jobs/careers what have you. One thing I do know 37 is too young to go. Another thing I know: When Tanner died, the world lost another great story teller. And those are in short supply. Until Next Time I'm Q CYA "Words are important, I thank you for hearing my words." George Carlin RIP.
