How about those billboards? The Pharos-Tribune came out today in favor of proposed restrictions on the number of billboards along the Hoosier Heartland Highway. We agree with billboard companies that it will be important to promote local attractions along the new highway, but we also believe that the city needs to protect the landscape from being cluttered by too many signs. What do you think?

Good for you
I'm glad the Pharos-Tribune is editorializing on this important issue. Too many communities don't even contemplate making rules until billboards litter the side of their highways. And by then it is too late.
Most of all, I think it is important for a local newspaper to show leadership in the community by weighing in on such topics. Good editorials promote debate and evoke reaction, positive and negative.
Bad idea
Limiting the number of billboards on the Hoosier Heartland is a bad idea. What are these people thinking?
