For those wondering what happens in a newsroom day after day, here's a glimpse:

On Friday, we were faced with the possibility that Indiana's own Evan Bayh, former governor, present senator and husband of the lovely, beauteous Susan, might be named by Barack Obama as his vice president pick.

And since you never leave such things to the last minute, we took about five minutes and — only half seriously — thought up some real clever possible headlines, for either contingency.

In case he got the nod: "A Bayh week"

In case he didn't: "Bayh passed" or "Bayh stander"

Or, perhaps, a bit coldly: "Buh-Bayh"
