Does Dixon's fate lie in the hands of a homeless man?

Grand jury selection into the arrest of Anderson County Councilman Ollie Dixon began on Thursday. Dixon was arrested for drunk driving and taken to the Madison County Jail where he was later found to have a gun. Special prosecutor J.A. Cummins said Thursday he plans to call seven witnesses: six deputies from the Madison County Sheriff's Department and a man named Phillip Schuyler. It seems Schuyler was the man in Dixon's cell who alerted jail officers when the gun emerged. According to jail records, a Phillip M. Schuyler was booked into the jail on March 28, the day Dixon was arrested.

Love Bears: Out on the street

I received a call from a volunteer with Love Bears, a local group of mostly older women who sew teddy bears to give to children. The caller said Love Bears will no longer be allowed to operate out of Anderson Public Library and is moving to an Anderson Parks Department facility on Oak Street. She also said the group has been forbidden from taking its own property — namely a microwave and freezer — with it. Not sure what's going on here, but I hope to find out more soon.
