The Catechism Of The Catholic Church#2482

A lie consists of speaking a falsehood with the intention of deceiving. The Lord denounces lying as the work of the devil. You are of your father the devil, there is no truth in him. When he lies,he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Anonymous Dillinger letter

On Thursday, I received an anonymous letter in the mail. It was written in a slightly shaky cursive, unsigned and contained no return address information. I couldn't ever read the postmark. I have no idea what else to do with it, so I'll let the letter speak for itself. Here is the text, as far as I can make it out. I have corrected some spelling and added some punctuation, but I don't believe it alters the spirit of the letter. A few awkward, but important, passages have been untouched and are noted with [sic]. Here goes:

Do chili and peanut butter sandwiches go together?

Absolutely. This is a classic combo. Gimmie some.

Garfield's Restaurant

Just got back from a late afternoon lunch at Garfield's and I am extremely disappointed in the service I received. First I didn't receive my appetizers, the waitress was too busy chatting it up with another table. Someone else brought us our food...and when she finally decided to come over and check on us she remembered the appetizer and told us not to worry, it wasn't on our bill. She didn't ask if we still wanted it either, and that was part of my meal. When she finally brought us our check, she had overcharged us for our food.

Madison Ave

I have noticed lately all the traffic and people parking along Madison Ave aound Sunny Rays. Satuday night/Sunday morning There were 100's of people gathering along this strech of road. People were in the street, parked along the side of the road drinking and obstructiong the flow of traffic. I did see a police helicopter above the area in question. WHen I was younger we use to park at k-mart north or crusie broadway..the police didnt have a problem with putting a stop to this...why does this still continue on Madison Ave.

The Catechism Of The Catholic Church#2355

Prostitution does injury to the person who engages in it,reducing the person to an instrument of sexual pleasure.

The one pays sins gravely against himself:he violates the chastity to which his Baptism pledged him and defiles his body, the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Prostitution is a social scourge.

It usually involves women, but also men, women, and adolescents.

The latter two cases involve the added sin of scandal.

While it is always gravely sinful to engage in prostitution, the imputability of the offense can be attentuated to destitution, blackmail,or social pressure.

Thanks, Reader Copies!

Wizard

As happens from time to time, my adolescent curiosity in comic books gets the best of me. This time, that curiosity led me to Rembert Parker's Reader Copies on North Scatterfield. My passion for comics burned brieftly but, oh, it was bright, and has never faded completely. I figured the best way to find out what's happening in the industry would be a copy of Wizard magazine. Parker was happy to oblige and threw in a copy of Previews (the phonebook sized catalog distributors offer to retailers) AND Marvel previews.

Does Dixon's fate lie in the hands of a homeless man?

Grand jury selection into the arrest of Anderson County Councilman Ollie Dixon began on Thursday. Dixon was arrested for drunk driving and taken to the Madison County Jail where he was later found to have a gun. Special prosecutor J.A. Cummins said Thursday he plans to call seven witnesses: six deputies from the Madison County Sheriff's Department and a man named Phillip Schuyler. It seems Schuyler was the man in Dixon's cell who alerted jail officers when the gun emerged. According to jail records, a Phillip M. Schuyler was booked into the jail on March 28, the day Dixon was arrested.
